Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.

City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism made him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
